Charlton U17s opened their 2025/26 Premier League Cup account with a point against Category One opposition in Chelsea.
Kayode Peterkin and Raynon Richman were on the scoresheet for the young Addicks, led by Jason Pearce, who shared the spoils in a 2-2 encounter at Cobham Training Ground.
The hosts went ahead inside nine minutes due to miscommunication at the back for the U17s, as a cross was swung into the box by Christopher Atherton, creeping in at the far post early on.
Pearce’s side responded well to the setback, levelling the scoring just eight minutes later. Logan Williams went long from a goal-kick, seeing Peterkin power his way through the Blues’ defence, shrugging off two defenders in the process, finishing at the near post with a sublime strike.
Chelsea re-established their lead ahead of the hour mark through Jayden Malundama as the forward slotted in from close range, showing some neat control in the process.
The young Addicks continued to push for an equaliser with full-time approaching, netting their second with 19 minutes left on the clock. A poor clearance from the Blues’ stopper was intercepted by Richman who homed in on goal, finding the back of the net with a well-placed finish.
The U17s continue their PL Cup campaign on Tuesday, September 30th as they host Brighton and Hove Albion at Sparrows Lane.
