Suraci appointed head of women's football at Cherries

Suraci has been at AFC Bournemouth for more than a decade, most recently as academy head of coaching and development, U9-U21, spending eight years with the academy.

This has seen him prepare coached for first-team environments, with other previous positions including lead youth development phase coach, U12-14 and lead foundation phase coach U9-11.

Suraci told afcb.co.uk: “Having spent nearly 11 years in the academy and seeing it go from a Category 3 to a Category 1 application, it feels like the right moment in my life to look at other opportunities within the club.

“Not only is women’s football clearly on the rise, but the chance to help women and young girls aspire to craft a profession out of their passion aligns with my beliefs.

“The rise of the women’s team here at AFC Bournemouth has been fantastic over the previous years, and we have a group of players and staff with an outstanding togetherness and a great mentality. I’m thoroughly looking forward to being a part of the set up and continuing the excellent growth we have seen in recent times.”

Before joining the Cherries, Suraci was at Portsmouth as an academy coach and was academy director at Portsmouth College.

There, he coached and taught on the BTEC Performance and Excellence programme.

He has also held leadership roles at the Hampshire Girls Centre of Excellence and was a coach of both the men’s and women’s teams at the University of Portsmouth.

Suraci has a UEFA A Licence, the FA Advanced Youth Award and a post-graduate diploma in Elite Coaching Development.

He is currently doing a Doctorate in Sport, Exercise and Health at the University of Portsmouth.
