2025/26 Premier League picks, score predictions for every Matchday 5 fixture

The Premier League has been as exciting as ever to start the 2025/26 season, and Matchday 5 promises to be just as thrilling as the others with the Merseyside Derby, several London derbies, and another high-stakes matchup between Manchester City and Arsenal.

Here are score predictions for every game on the Matchday 5 fixture slate.

### Liverpool vs. Everton

Everton have the quality to give Liverpool real trouble this season after landing Jack Grealish, who has been transformative to the Toffees attack.

Of course, Everton still have work to do, as evidenced by their 0-0 draw with Grealish’s former employer Aston Villa last weekend, while Liverpool’s late penalty gave them a tough 1-0 win over Burnley’s low block.

Liverpool will win at Anfield, but this will be a firecracker of a 4-3 match, with Florian Wirtz finding substitute Alexander Isak on the turn in the 91st to fire the Reds to a famous home victory in the Merseyside Derby.

### West Ham vs. Crystal Palace

West Ham are reeling after a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of a resurgent Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s going to be another disappointing day at home for the Hammers against the reigning FA Cup champions.

Call this a 1-0 win for Crystal Palace, courtesy of a goal around 80 minutes for top striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

### Wolves vs. Leeds

Neither Wolves nor Leeds are worth writing home about, but for as disastrous as Wolves have been through four matches this season, the home field advantage will be enough for them to salvage a 1-1 draw.

### Brighton vs. Tottenham

Tottenham and Brighton are two exciting teams with up-and-coming squads and great young managers, and while Brighton are the home side, Tottenham are just too good to deny a victory.

Look at it this way. Tottenham have had three of the four Premier League Players of the Week this season, and with Lucas Bergvall fully entering the starting lineup under Frank and Xavi Simons headed into his second game, this is a tough machine to stop. 4-2, Tottenham.

### Burnley vs. Nottingham Forest

Burnley certainly know how to make things tough for their opponents, just ask Liverpool, but they are also just as bad at scoring.

Nottingham Forest get their bounce-back win after being torn to shreds by Arsenal, squeaking by Burnley thanks to a late winner from star striker Chris Wood.

### Manchester United vs. Chelsea

Manchester United are in huge trouble under Ruben Amorim, and while they’ll be able to give the Old Trafford faithful something better to watch than a 3-0 shellacking to Manchester City, even signs of life won’t help them against Chelsea.

The Blues are also on a mission after drawing Brentford last weekend. Cole Palmer’s brilliance and Estevao Willian’s spark will lead Chelsea to a 3-1 win over Bryan Mbeumo’s Man United.

### Fulham vs. Brentford

The second London derby of the weekend, Fulham and Brentford has 1-1 draw written all over it. Brentford are better than expected after losing Thomas Frank and 39 goals between Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, and they just tied Chelsea.

But Fulham are also a good team and have one of the best defenses in the Premier League on paper, which overcomes a lack of star power in attack.

### Bournemouth vs. Newcastle

Bournemouth have been one of the best teams in the Premier League to start the season, and while Newcastle are a good side and in the Champions League, the Cherries have outperformed the Magpies.

Newcastle will make it tough, but a few brilliant counterattacks will be exactly what Andoni Iraola and Evanilson need to put the visitors away 2-1.

### Sunderland vs. Aston Villa

Aston Villa’s bleeding will continue on Sunday with a tough 1-0 loss to a resilient Sunderland side that made several smart defensive signings this summer and have already been the biggest surprise package of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

### Arsenal vs. Manchester City

Matchday 5 of the Premier League ends with the best game of the week between Arsenal and Manchester City, and whenever these two giants face off, you always feel that big fight vibe and know that the title is on the line.

While that vibe feels a bit different now that Liverpool are the favorites, the stakes between Man City and Arsenal are still high, and the tactical feel-out between Mikel Arteta and his mentor Pep Guardiola is still just as enthralling.

[Arsenal](https://goonernews.com/) and Man City will play out a highly defensive 0-0 draw at the Emirates, with Viktor Gyokeres and Phil Foden both missing crucial chances that leave both fan bases wondering what could have been.
