Man Utd signed the goalkeeper on deadline day of the summer transfer window.

The brother of Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens admits he was sceptical of the decision to move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.

United completed the signing of Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day of the window for a fixed fee of £18.1m, plus add-ons. The 23-year-old signed an initial five-year deal and could make his debut when they face Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend.

Lammens watched on as United were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Man City last weekend, and his brother, Tom, who plays for Belgian club Borsbeek, was slightly confused at his decision to turn down a move to Galatasaray instead.

The Turkish club also hoped to sign Lammens in the summer transfer window and wanted him to be their new No.1 in goal, but he instead opted to join United, who viewed him as a long-term target for the role.

"There's a lot of quality, you play for trophies there (at Galatasaray), and Senne could perhaps immediately make his mark in the Champions League," Tom Lammens told Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad. "I was initially sceptical about a move to United, because many players there had already succumbed to the pressure and couldn't reach their full potential."

Lammens will hope to play Champions League football with United next season, with a top-five finish targeted by Ineos for the current campaign. Whether they manage to do so could depend on who plays in goal, after the decision to loan Andre Onana to Turkish club Trabzonspor, while Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton both remained.

"Ultimately, it was Senne who had to make the decision," Tom Lammens added. "United gave him the best feeling. Partly because Tony Coton, United's goalkeeping scout, had been following him for almost a year and was very convinced of his qualities.

"It would also be great if the club could return to its former glory and if Senne could contribute to that."
