Liverpool have made two new additions to their Champions League squad ahead of their Wednesday night showdown with Atletico Madrid at Anfield. The Reds' squad list for their opening league phase fixture of the season boasts 24 players, as per UEFA's official website.

The trio of Alisson Becker, Freddie Woodman and Giorgi Mamardashvili are listed as the goalkeepers. Woodman is set to make his debut in a matchday squad since his free transfer arrival from Championship side Preston North End.

This is possible because UEFA permits clubs to name 12 substitutes for their matches, three more than the Premier League allows. However, this does mean one of the 24 will be left out of the squad.

Curtis Jones looks set to be the one missing out after head coach Arne Slot confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the midfielder won't be able to participate, despite being scheduled to train with the team again on Wednesday before the Atletico match. Despite this, he still appears on the official squad list, although an icon indicates that he is injured.

There is also a similar image next to Alexis Mac Allister's name which suggests that he is doubtful. That could explain why Trey Nyoni also features from the club's B List after being an unused substitute against Burnley in Jones' absence.

Youngster Jayden Danns is another name to watch, having not been included in a senior matchday squad since the start of the season. The striker has, however, featured twice for the under-21s last month after bouncing back from a pre-season back injury.

His inclusion could potentially affect the game time of Alexander Isak and hint he won't be featuring all the time, with Slot having already admitted that the new signing won't play the full 90 minutes tonight.

However, he did concede that "there is definitely a chance" the Swedish international will make his debut against Atletico.

Slot said: “There is definitely a chance, because he is in the squad. Then there is a chance to play. Normally I would say 99.9 per cent sure, but I can say it’s 100 per cent sure he will not play 90 minutes. But he is part of the squad.

“It is already a Champions League game to look forward to but if people look forward to his playing time, that could mean that could happen tomorrow as well. The only thing that is sure is he will not play 90, and all the rest you will see tomorrow.”
