The rumors around the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tyreek Hill have swirled over the past week, but according to a new report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Miami Dolphins have no interest in moving the star wide receiver.
“But as of Saturday, sources told Schefter, the Dolphins have not fielded any trade inquiries on Hill, who is in the second year of a restructured three-year, $90 million contract. The Dolphins already exercised Hill’s $15.85 million option bonus for this season, leaving a $10 million base salary and $1.8 million in per-game bonuses,” the report read.
That fits with Hill’s comments from late last week, where he said that he is happy in Miami, despite saying ‘I’m out bro’ at the conclusion of the team’s 2024 season.
“I don’t really pay attention to any of that,” Hill said about trade rumors. “I feel like to me, noise is good -- adversity is opportunity. I look at it like that.”
Dolphins insider Armando Salguero says that Hill, who is entering the last year of his deal in 2026, would cost a team no more than a late third round pick, and could end up only bringing back an early day three pick.
“So, if he’s moved — a fourth — a late third, a fourth, a fifth,” Salguero said on 93.7 the Fan. “Have to understand that [2026] is the last year of his contract.”
Hill instead has tried to mend his relationships with others and the organization, but that has become frayed, and a lack of success within the group has not helped that.
Add in that a league investigation into domestic abuse allegations has commenced against Hill and it is much harder to sell a trade than it was a few days ago.
To trade him, the Dolphins would have to eat dead money, which could drive the cost of a trade up if he does get moved. The Steelers would be a natural spot, but so would the Kansas City Chiefs, who will be without top wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice for the next few weeks.
Hill’s play is not what it once was at the height of his career. He had just 959 receiving yards in 17 games a season ago, a stark drop off from his 1700 receiving yards in 2023, where was a Pro Bowler.
