He is in line to make his second appearance for City when they take on Serie A champions Napoli on Thursday in the Champions League.
The 26-year-old reportedly attracted the interest of several clubs this summer but insists he never entertained any offers aside from City’s.
“Well, I was very clear my desire was to come here,” he said. “That was my first and my only option – the only thing I wanted.
“I’m happy to be here at City, a part of this fantastic team, this fantastic family and give so much to these colours, this badge and I really hope to do it for many years to come.
“I thank the manager and for me it’s an honour and a pride to be here and to have him as my coach. It’s history, football history so I am really excited to be here and to have him as my coach.
“I definitely still have a lot to improve, I can still give so much more, that’s my objective – to keep improving and give my all for the team.”
