Jadeveon Clowney Quickly Catching on in 1st Days with Cowboys

Veteran pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney just signed with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday and has already ingratiated himself within the team. Clowney told reporters Monday that he expects to play against the Chicago Bears in Week 3 and talked at length about how new Cowboys defensive tackle Kenny Clark played a part in him coming to Dallas.

However, the praise doesn’t stop there, as the newest Cowboys pass rusher took some time out to give some love to owner Jerry Jones.

“I’ve been on seven teams, and this place is a lot different than any place I’ve been. They got a lot for these guys. They spoiled, Jerry spoils this team…I want to put it all out there, just play good and stay around,” Clowney said via Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Jadeveon Clowney Already Making Good 1st Impression with Cowboys

If you’re a Cowboys fan, you love to see another player excited to join the team. Clark said all the right things in his introduction with the media after the Micah Parsons trade, and has backed it up on the field with his play.

Clowney will hope to do the same, while also getting on Jones' good side, which is never a bad play. Since the veteran disruptor is on a one-year deal, he’s looking for a multi-year contract in Dallas or somewhere else next season.

Therefore, if Clowney can record at least 5.5 sacks, which he had last year in Carolina, or more, it will only increase his chances of staying in Dallas past this season.

Not only will the coaching staff and fans notice, but it will likely catch owner/general manager Jerry Jones’ attention, who needs a couple of wins after trading away Parsons before the season began. The next step for Clowney to get into Jones’ good graces is to have a good performance against the 0-2 Chicago Bears.

The Bears are coming off a 52-21 blowout loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 2, where quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked four times. For defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, there’s no better matchup for his defense to get back on track than this one, especially since facing his former team should provide extra motivation.

The Cowboys’ pass rush needs a little bit of excitement and firepower, and who better to do it than Clowney, who is trying to stay in Dallas for at least another season.
