Big development emerges out of Wolves ahead of Leeds United visit to Molineux - journalist

Leeds United are set to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League this Saturday, with Daniel Farke going up against Vitor Pereira.

Opta believe Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Leeds United but also that the Whites survive relegation by the end of this season. Whatever way you want to look at it, it’s a huge game at the bottom of the division.

It’s not yet a must-win for Leeds but the pair have one win in eight between them and valuable points are up for grabs. The referee has been selected for Leeds heading to Molineux and they have to hope he has a consistent game with what is at stake.

Daniel Farke often struggles against Wolves and Leeds need all the help they can get. That’s why Jorgen Strand Larsen is a doubt for Wolves but there have been other developments at Molineux since then.

Wolves’ Vitor Pereira set for contract extension ahead of Leeds game

Leeds have had the fewest shots on target in the Premier League and it’s why Leeds fans are concerned about scoring goals ahead of Wolves, with output being a serious concern. Between them, the two teams have scored just three league goals

All of the aforementioned came against Everton as well, albeit Leeds won against the Toffees at home and Wolves fell to a 3-2 defeat before the international break. They are rock bottom of the table.

Despite the fact they are somewhat cut adrift early on, Vitor Pereira is set to be rewarded ahead of hosting Leeds this weekend. That’s because a new contract is in the offing.

TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook has revealed Wolves are close to tying manager Pereira to a new deal. He states that both parties are keen to wrap up fresh terms after his arrival in December 2024.

Pereira initially penned a deal until June 2026, with this extension taking him past the 2025/26 season.

Who does Daniel Farke pick out wide to face Vitor Pereira’s Wolves?

After being dropped for the first time in a league game against Fulham last time out, Willy Gnonto could return to the lineup for Leeds against Wolves at Molineux.

Brenden Aaronson is capable of performing a particular tactical role out of possession but he doesn’t have as much quality on the ball as Gnonto. Leeds also have the consideration that Jack Harrison has a strong career record against Wolves.

His set-piece ability could get more out of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. That said, Jayden Bogle and Gnonto could be key to Calvert-Lewin after a recent reveal regarding his near-post runs and his ability in the air, too.

It’s the main area of concern, with so many other question marks in Leeds’ team becoming answered in the early weeks of 2025/26. Farke has to find the right balance to strike in attack against a Wolves team united under Pereira.
