The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to a great start this year after defeating the Houston Texans on Monday night. Unfortunately, the Bucs did not come out of the victory unscathed.

“Sources: #Bucs DT Calijah Kancey will miss the rest of the season with a pectoral injury suffered on Monday night vs. the Texans. The former first-round pick is a huge piece of Tampa’s defense,” Jordan Schultz reported.
Tampa Bay fans were also bracing for quarterback Baker Mayfield to miss some time after he received a beating in the game. Now, we know where the veteran quarterback is at health-wise.
“Though #Bucs QB Baker Mayfield took plenty of hits in the dramatic win on MNF against the #Texans, his injuries did not require any MRIs or additional scans. Mayfield may take some time off this week, but should be good to go for Sunday against the #Jets,” [reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.](https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1968315718170239161)
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Good news is the game against the Jets is essentially a bye, so plenty of time for him to get to 100% for the next real opponent, lol,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Baker is an absolute gamer man browns fumbled the ball hard,” another fan added.
“I thought his ankle snapped in half at one point, but then he got up and kept playing,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Baker can avoid taking such a beating moving forward.
