The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have got off to another red-hot 2-0 start behind veteran quarterback Baker Mayfield, who rejuvenated his career after flaming out with the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers.
However, Mayfield took a beating in the Bucs’ Monday night win against the Houston Texans. Many fans were wondering if Mayfield would miss some time due to the grueling nature of Monday night’s game for his body.
Now, we know that Mayfield may, in fact, take some time away from practice in order to give himself a rest before Tampa’s next game against the New York Jets, according to one prominent league insider.
“Though #Bucs QB Baker Mayfield took plenty of hits in the dramatic win on MNF against the #Texans, his injuries did not require any MRIs or additional scans. Mayfield may take some time off this week, but should be good to go for Sunday against the #Jets,” [reported Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.](https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1968315718170239161)
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“It’s the jets, he shouldn’t even play tbh,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“He escaped hell \*cleveland\* and became the biggest football guy the game has ever seen,” someone else added.
“He tore his ACL for like 3 seconds and it immediately regenerated,” one fan added.
IT’ll be interesting to see if Baker can stay clean against the Jets.
