But Gibson responded with a lightning bolt of his own as he fielded the kickoff, broke through a crowd near the Patriots' 30-yard line, and turned on the jets, outrunning the entire Dolphins coverage unit to the end zone.
"I was talking to myself before the play, 'Make a play right here, A.G.' I asked and received," Gibson said after the game. The return not only flipped the scoreboard but also the momentum of the game, putting New England back in control with a 30-27 lead.
Adding to the dramatic moment, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel was seen sprinting down the sideline alongside Gibson during the return. "If he almost caught me, I need to run faster," Gibson joked afterward.
