**Newcastle United and Barcelona will meet at St James' Park on Thursday night as their Champions League campaigns get underway.**
We don't feel Eddie Howe is going to make any unexpected changes to his lineup for this one, coming off the back of Newcastle's first win of the season at the weekend.
The one change we feel he will make is that he will take advantage of having Anthony Gordon available, as his suspension doesn't apply to Champions League games. He will still have to sit out Sunday's game at Bournemouth as his third and final game of his three-match ban, but Howe will use him on Tuesday.
That will allow Howe to use Harvey Barnes in a manner to which he's more suited - as an impact sub. We're not sure what it is about Barnes, but he only seems to play well when Gordon is available.

How we feel Newcastle will line up on Thursday night
### Goalkeeper
**Nick Pope** - Three clean sheets in four games means there's no reason to call upon Aaron Ramsdale just yet.
### Defenders
**Kieran Trippier** - An old head with plenty of Champions League experience. Tripps will be vital for Newcastle.
**Fabian Schar** - The man who scored a worldie when PSG came to St James' Park two years ago. Can he do it again?
**Dan Burn** - Newcastle can use Dan Burn and Nick Woltemade to great effect against a diminutive Barcelona defence.
**Tino Livramento** - Tino keeps growing with every game, and this will be a huge test for the young full-back.
### Midfielders
**Bruno Guimaraes (c)** \- Being in the Champions League means as much to Bruno as it does to any Newcastle supporter. He will be up for this.
**Sandro Tonali** - Has been pretty flawless all season so far, and is one of the more experienced players in the competition despite being so young.
**Joelinton** - The final piece of the best midfield trio in the Premier League. How will they fare in the Champions League?
### Forwards
**Jacob Murphy** - We originally had Anthony Elanga here for his devastating pace, but on reflection, there's no reason to drop Jacob Murphy after his assist on Saturday.
**Nick Woltemade** - This is a huge test for the new centre-forward, but after a debut goal on Saturday, his confidence should be sky high.
**Anthony Gordon** - His suspension doesn't apply, and Harvey Barnes hasn't exactly lit the world on fire in his absence, so it's an easy recall.
Harvey Barnes and Anthony Elanga on the bench could do some huge damage late in the game, and we have Sven Botman, Lewis Hall and Malick Thiaw if things aren't going so well at the other end of the pitch.
We're looking pretty good.
