Jared Goff has earned his first accolade of the 2025 season, and it hasn't even been more than two weeks into the year. His five touchdowns, 82.1 percent comletion rate, 334 passing yards, and 156 passer rating has earned him NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for Week 2.
His performance against the Chicago Bears was admirable, and it was sorely needed. After Week 1, critics were quick to say that Goff's performance against the Green Bay Packers was the result of losing Ben Johnson on the coaching staff. Week 2, literally against Johnson, Goff managed to show that he can thrive without the offensive coordinator calling plays.
Goff is looking to continue this great play against a juggernaut in the Baltimore Ravens on the road for Monday Night Football. Week 3 marks another huge test for the Lions and their offense, especially against a tough defense like the Ravens'. If Goff can post even half of these numbers against Baltimore, Detroit's chances of winning shoot way up.
Goff put on a show in Week 2 vs. Bears
Goff managed to snag three touchdowns in a single game for Amon-Ra St. Brown, which was a career high for the All-Pro receiver. He also had a huge moon ball touchdown pass to Jameson Williams, which is exactly what you want to see from the Lions' offense with a speedy weapon like Williams at their disposal.
It was also a huge testament to the Lions' much-improved offensive line play. Goff had all day to throw to his men downfield, and thanks in large part to the Lions' tackles and guards actually holding firm on their assignments against Chicago's defensive line.

Tate Ratledge and Christian Mahogany were especially notable, only allowing one pressure on Goff the entire contest.
Baltimore poses a much different challenge to them than the Bears' D-line did. They have some defenders on the line like Nnamdi Madubuike, and a great run stopper in Roquan Smith ready to stop Detroit's attempts at gaining yards on the ground behind Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. Without Kyle Van Noy, though, it's possible Goff can get something going from the pocket.
