Official: Barcelona youngster set for a month out of action

La Liga giants Barcelona have this week announced an injury setback for an up-and-coming member of the club’s midfield ranks.

The player in question? Guille Fernández.

Youngster Guille is of course a regular in the first-team setup at Barcelona.

After impressing in pre-season over the summer, the 17-year-old has since been called up to senior training on a number of occasions, too.

In fact, just this past weekend, Hansi Flick was tipped to draft Guille into his matchday squad to face Valencia.

At the last minute, however, the starlet suffered a setback.

Guille was hauled off at half-time in Barca Atlétic’s defeat at the hands of Andratx late last week.

And an ensuing round of medical tests have since confirmed that the midfield starlet is facing up to a spell of four to five weeks on the sidelines as a result.

As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms:

‘The tests carried out have shown that Barça Atlètic player Guillermo Fernández has an injury to theiofibular ligament of the left ankle. The expected recovery time is between four and five weeks.’
