Steve Cooper reviving Nottingham Forest relationship at Brøndby – Backroom team taking shape

Steve Cooper is busy setting himself up at Brøndby and it appears that includes reviving some old relationships from his time at Swansea City and Nottingham Forest.

Tipsbladet explain the situation today, explaining that after already bringing Alan Tate as his assistant manager, another of Cooper’s ‘loyal colleagues’ is also on his way.

He’s appointed David Tivey as his new physical trainer at the Danish club. He’s replacing Anders Storskov, who has had his contract terminated by mutual agreement.

Tivey arrives after working as a physical trainer at Chelsea’s academy. Like Tate, he’s worked with Cooper before, forming part of his backroom team at Swansea City, Nottingham Forest and even on the England U17 National Team.

He’s set to take up his new role at Vestegnen in October. Until then Bennet Kästner, who heads the physical staff at the club, will handle any tasks for the Superliga team.

“We are very pleased to welcome David Tivey to Brøndby IF,” said Benjamin Schmedes, the club’s Director of Professional Football, in a press release.

“David brings strong experience from top environments in both England and France. With his expertise, he can make a difference in the players’ development and in the team’s physical performance.

“Therefore, he will be an important piece in our continued work to develop and optimize both the squad and its performance.”

Whether Cooper turns to more of his former staff remains to be seen as he settles into life at his new club. For now it’s two appointments, both of whom have worked with him at Nottingham Forest and Swansea City already.
