Steelers Announce 5 Roster Moves

The Pittsburgh Steelers need to bounce back after a Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Their promising start to the season looked far less so once the Buffalo Bills obliterated the New York Jets, who were defeated by the Steelers in Week 1.

Pittsburgh’s defense hasn’t been as good as advertised, so it made five roster moves heading into Week 3 against the New England Patriots.

“The Steelers made multiple roster moves, including signing defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal to the active roster from the practice squad. In a corresponding move, the team place defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk on the Reserve/Injured List. The Steelers also signed linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley, receiver Isaiah Hodgins and tight end Matt Sokol to the practice squad,” Teresa Varley wrote.

Most people would feel confident trusting Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin to keep a young quarterback like New England’s Drake Maye in check, especially given the second-year player’s inconsistency.

But after watching the Steelers give up more than 30 points in back-to-back games, perhaps they might not be as optimistic.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers also fell back to earth after his four-touchdown, zero-interception performance in the opener, and while he’s not entirely to blame for their loss to the Seahawks, he’s not going to have explosive games very often at this point in his career.

The Steelers need to get on top of the issue with a dominant performance against the Patriots.

After so many years of not winning a playoff game and hovering around a .500 record, Pittsburgh fans want more from their team.

If the current roster can’t get the job done, the Steelers will have to keep making adjustments.
