Former Penn State defender joins NFL roster with midseason deal

A former star Nittany Lion has caught on with a new NFL team.

Linebacker Curtis Jacobs signed with the New York Giants’ practice squad Tuesday, according to the team. Jacobs also posted on social media that he had arrived in New York.

With the Giants, Jacobs once again becomes teammates with former Penn State mates DL Abdul Carter and TE Theo Johnson.

Jacobs was a stalwart at Penn State, amassing 171 tackles in four seasons with 9.5 sacks. That led to the Maryland native signing as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in spring 2024, a contract worth nearly $3 million over three years, according to Spotrac.

Jacobs has since bounced around the league, at various times residing with the Chiefs, New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. He made his debut last season as a Patriot, making four tackles in nine games.
