Barcelona do not regret the fact they were never able to sign Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes.
Guimaraes has been one of the Premier League’s leading midfielders ever since he arrived at Newcastle United.
Indeed, Newcastle paid around £40million to sign Guimaraes from Lyon and that has proven to be a bargain.
Not only did they sign a fantastic midfielder, they also landed a leader. Indeed, the 27-year-old has proven a transformative addition, someone who clearly loves the club and all that it represents.
A cup-winning captain, he surely has to go down as one of Newcastle’s greatest ever players. However, Barca aren’t losing any sleep about the fact they missed out on him twice.

Barcelona pleased they didn’t sign Bruno Guimaraes
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Guimaraes was a target for the Catalan giants in both 2023 and 2024.
They reportedly considered him as a potential replacement for Sergio Busquets, who left the club in 2023.
While the report suggests that Barca would have signed him if they had not been working under financial restraints at the time, it adds that no one at the Camp Nou is losing any sleep.

It’s claimed that the emergence of the likes of Gavi, Marc Bernal and Marc Casado have saved the club millions and that no one at Barcelona is “tearing” their hair out about missing out on Guimaraes.
Bruno Guimaraes happy to stay at Newcastle United
Much has been made about Newcastle’s supposed lack of pulling power in recent months, given the fact Alexander Isak pushed to leave and several big-name targets turned down the chance to replace him.
However, the fact they’ve kept a player as good as Guimaraes happy for such a long time flies in the face of that particular notion.
Speaking ahead of Newcastle United vs Barcelona in the Champions League on Thursday night, Guimaraes confirmed he remained as happy as ever on Tyneside.
“I want to win things. I have never changed my mind and I still look to make history at this club. We have been in the Champions League two times in the last three years, that is unbelievable for us. We have to keep that going. There is a big job for us to do here and I want to be part of this team.”
Geordie Boot Boys understands that Newcastle want to hold fresh contract talks with Guimaraes, with his current deal set to expire in 2028.
