Everton's record at Anfield is worrying (and you won't believe how long it's been since they've …

To say that Everton have been poor at Anfield in recent years might be one of the understatements of the decade, if not even further back than that.

FotMob head-to-head records for the Toffees' trips to their city-mates' ground go back to January 2011, and in that time, Everton have just picked up a mere 7 points in 18 matches. Four draws (2-2 on January 16, 2011, 0-0 on May 5, 2013, 1-1 on September 27, 2014, and 1-1 on December 10, 2017) have been scattered throughout that period, with the one victory, 2-0 on February 20, 2021, coming in an empty stadium during COVID.

Going back even further, Everton have just four points away to Liverpool since the turn of the century, with the Toffees' last win at Anfield in front of supporters coming on September 27, 1999.

That match featured the likes of Kevin Campbell, who scored the only goal in the 4rd minute, David Weir, and a 19-year-old Michael Ball for Everton, with all members of the starting XI, save for a red carded Francis Jeffers, playing all 90 minutes.

Jamie Carragher, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, and Jamie Redknapp started for the Reds, with a young Steven Gerrard subbing in at the 66th minute, only to be shown a straight red in the 90th. Sander Westerveld was also sent off for Liverpool at the same time as Jeffers for the Blues.

Before that, you have to go back another 13 years to February 22, 1986, when Everton won 2-0 over the Reds on their home ground as part of a season that would see the Toffees finish second in the table behind, you guessed it, their rivals from Liverpool FC.

It's never been a long trip, but it's also very often been a disappointing one for both the Toffees and their supporters. While it will be a tough task for the current iteration of Everton to get all three points on Saturday, if they can accomplish the task, it will stand among one of the more famous victories in the history of Everton Football Club.
