Kobbie Mainoo is losing faith in his position at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim amid interest from Newcastle United.
Back in August, Geordie Boot Boys were told that Mainoo is a Newcastle United transfer target.
Mainoo was linked with a move to Newcastle again earlier this week, with the England international struggling for game time under Amorim.
The 20-year-old has played in only two of their four Premier League games this season and neither of those have come from the start.
Indeed, despite Amorim failing to convince, he still isn’t turning to the Manchester United academy graduate even amid so much talk about the lack of energy in his midfield unit.
Though it’s unclear as to how long Amorim will get to turn things around, it appears as if Newcastle United target Mainoo doesn’t see much of a first-team future under the former Sporting CP boss.

Kobbie Mainoo’s camp think Ruben Amorim has no faith in him
Speaking on talkSPORT, transfer insider Alex Crook revealed an interesting detail.
Crook’s sources close to the Mainoo camp suggest that the player himself doesn’t think Amorim has any faith in his ability.

“I speak to people close to Kobbie Mainoo and they say to me, ‘he doesn’t fancy him’,” said Crook.
“Kobbie believes the manager doesn’t have any faith in his ability.”
Mainoo has just under two years left on his contract at Old Trafford and selling him would help the Manchester giants on the PSR front.
Under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), clubs bank every penny they receive for academy graduates as ‘pure profit’.
Manchester United had already agreed to let Kobbie Mainoo leave
Newcastle fans want the club to sign Mainoo and for good reason. He has already proved he’s a brilliant talent, helping his boyhood club win the FA Cup final against Manchester City in 2024 in unlikely circumstances.
Following the sale of Alexander Isak, Newcastle are expected to have the funds available to make signings in January.
While the arrival of Jacob Ramsey no doubt strengthens the midfield unit in the Newcastle United squad, it would be foolish to suggest they couldn’t still improve it.
Joe Willock has struggled for two years now, while Lewis Miley remains in development.
Interestingly, according to French outlet Ici Azur earlier this month, the Red Devils were indeed prepared to let Mainoo leave on loan and join Nice.
