Worthing snap up former Albion and Crawley midfielder

The former Albion under-21s and Crawley midfielder has signed for the National League south outfit.

He made his debut in a 5-0 win at home to Jersey Bulls in an FA Cup second qualifying round replay.

Jenks was highly regarded when playing in midfield for Albion’s youngsters and has arguably not kicked on as expected.

He has most recently been with Forest Green, making 43 appearances.

Jenks knows some Worthing players and head coach Chris Agutter, with whom he had positive talks, from his Albion days.

He said: “We spoke about the ambitions of what the club wants to achieve this year, which I think is obvious to everybody to win the league or get promoted – and the style of play, which really suits my game.

“So it has been all positive.

“I like to get on the ball as much as possible, bring high energy and tackles and, if I can chip in with a goal, then it’s even better for everyone.”

Agutter added: “He has been training with us now for well over a month.

“We are delighted we were viewed by Ted as the best option.

“He had offers on the table but he believes in what are trying to do.

“He wants to enjoy his football and believes the way we play will best showcase his football so maybe he can kick on again.”
