About the nonprofit
Barrel Aged Charities is designed to “change the outcomes of men diagnosed with prostate cancer,” according to Madrile Young, head of advocacy for the organization. It all started when a group of friends who love bourbon and whiskey got together and decided to make a positive impact on the community.
They call it “drinking with a purpose.” Part of their work includes hosting events and fundraisers that allow the community to come together, “savor exceptional whiskey, wine, and food,” and support the fight against prostate cancer.
“We know that one in eight men will be diagnosed in their lives, and one in 44 will lose their life to prostate cancer,” Young told WBTV.
In addition to events, the nonprofit also helps fund research and scholarships.
