Chargers injury report evokes legitimate Ladd McConkey concerns

LA Chargers fans received great injury news Wednesday morning when it was revealed that Khalil Mack suffered a dislocated elbow, not a broken arm, in Monday's win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Hours later, fans received an injury surprise they are not as happy about.

Second-year wide receiver Ladd McConkey did not participate in practice on Wednesday. Fans were hopeful that McConkey was simply receiving a rest day for his efforts, but that was not the case.

Wednesday's injury report revealed that McConkey did not practice due to a biceps injury. McConkey did not appear to suffer an injury during the game on Monday, so it is unclear when this happened or how severe it is.

Ladd McConkey headlines Wednesday's Chargers injury report

McConkey is not the only notable name from the injury report that Chargers fans are worried about. Second-year cornerbacks Cam Hart and Tarheeb Still are both new additions to the injury report after playing (and excelling) against the Raiders on Monday.

Losing either one of those players against the Broncos would be unfortunate for the Bolts. Losing both of them would be outright detrimental.

Justin Eboigbe and Elijah Molden both logged DNPs but that is not overly surprising considering neither player was active on Monday. The Chargers did okay without Molden with veteran Tony Jefferson stepping up in his place. They can survive another week without him if need be.

Daiyan Henley logged a DNP after playing sick on Monday. Henley was a late addition to the injury report on gameday but ultimately played (and thrived). His illness shouldn't be a concern at all for Week 3, as the Chargers are likely just giving him a chance to recover.

Will Dissly's name is a surprise. Dissly is the team's best blocking tight end and has been one of two active tight ends for the Bolts this season. Oronde Gadsden II and Tucker Fisk are both on the 53-man roster, along with Tyler Conklin, but have been healthy scratches to this point. If Dissly were to miss Sunday's game, one of the two tight ends would be active.

Ultimately, McConkey is the name Chargers fans are most worried about and rightfully so. McConkey plays such a pivotal role on this Chargers offense, even if he has not had a big game yet for the Bolts in 2025.

Keenan Allen will need to step up even more than he has already if McConkey can't go. Allen would likely spend the entire game in the slot with Tre' Harris and Quentin Johnston on the outside.
