The injury report [giveth and it taketh.](https://x.com/RossJacksonNOLA/status/1968421190348738980/photo/1) While the New Orleans Saints saw Trevor Penning return to practice for the first time since suffering a turf toe injury in training camp. Unfortunately, Taliese Fuaga is also on the list. This time it's a back injury.
Last week, Fuaga was dealing with a knee injury that kept him limited throughout the week. He was able to manage the injury and play versus the San Francisco 49ers. During that game, however, Fuaga suffered a back injury.
This just adds to the list of injuries the tackle has dealt with. [NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill](https://x.com/nick_underhill/status/1968411007551762598) reported Fuaga is day-to-day. He missed Wednesday's practice last week before being a limited participant the next two days. We'll watch to see if Fuaga follows that same plan this week.
Taliese Fuaga injury gives concerning flashbacks to past Saints offensive tackles
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taliese Fuaga had an excellent rookie season at right. He’s had a less than stellar start to the year in 2025. A lot of that can be attributed to injuries. Maybe that’s a cop out. Maybe it’s a reasonable explanation of what has changed. All we know is things look different.
Seeing a left tackle with this many injuries may push many Saints fans into flashbacks of Terron Armstead. Armstead was a fantastic player, but he couldn’t stay healthy for multiple seasons. Even when he was on the field, Armstead was often managing something fans didn’t know about. Extremely tough player but injuries took a toll on him to the point where he’s getting a knee replacement after his playing days.
As the injuries begin to diversify for Fuaga, it's hard to not think of Armstead who had to deal with a litany of injuries during his time. When you think about Fuaga's knee injury, it's hard to not think about Ryan Ramczyk.
The Saints had two talented offensive tackles see their careers heavily impacted by injuries. Fuaga dealing with some injuries at the beginning of the year doesn't mean he'll follow the same path. What it does do is make fans a tad bit more cautious when it comes to these types of situations.
