Tyrod Taylor has 'faith' Jets can slay undefeated Buccaneers

The New York Jets announced that Justin Fields won't go against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with veteran Tyrod Taylor getting the nod for what looms as a daunting task.

Facing Todd Bowles' team in their home opener, Taylor and this Jets team, which got dismantled by the Buffalo Bills last week, will need to play a perfect game to avoid getting blown out.

But being at 0-2, and facing a top team in Tampa Bay, with a quarterback who hasn't started a game since January 7 of 2024, per ESPN, is there any extra pressure on Tyrod to get that first win and ease the collective frustration?

"No more pressure than any other game," Taylor said. "I'm as confident as ever in the guys within this locker room. We're facing a very good team, but I have all the belief and faith in the guys in this locker room that we can get a job done."

Jets and Taylor face daunting Buccaneers task

Even with a healthy Fields, this was always going to be a tough outing for the Jets, and now, having Taylor, who hasn't started a game in nearly two years, plus being on the road as the Buccaneers play their home opener, it is a perfect storm.

But as we know, the game isn't played on paper, and Taylor is a veteran of the league and has seen everything, but he will need to draw on that experience because you better believe that the Buccaneers will be flying around looking to move to 3-0.

Tyrod has faith in this locker room that they can get the job done in Tampa, but color me skeptical on that.
