NFL legend and Knoxville native D.D. Lewis dies at 79

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - NFL legend and Knoxville native D.D. Lewis has died at the age of 79.

Lewis was a member of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, played football at Fulton High School and was an All-State linebacker in 1963.

He then played football at Mississippi State where he was named All-SEC, SEC Defensive Player of the Year and an All-American.

Lewis later went on to win two Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys and he still holds the Cowboys’ playoff record with 27 games.
