Offensive 'mentality' key for star Buccaneers duo

The [Tampa Bay Buccaneers](https://www.sportingnews.com/uk/nfl/tampa-bay-buccaneers/news) have offensive weapons that are the envy of the NFL, with receivers and running backs who can turn games by themselves.

When it comes to the running back room, Bucky Irving and Rachaad White have become one of the best duos in football due to their ability as runners, but also as pass-catchers.

But one thing that stands out for the duo is how they approach their tasks, knowing that the other player is going to get their time in the sun.

For Baker Mayfield, he loves the mentality of the room.

“They feed off each other,” [Mayfield said](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTDFG6tOUIc). “You think about the mentality in that room, every obviously everybody wants the ball, but it's only one of them. So, for those guys to feed off each other, understand that they are going to get their opportunities whenever it comes, and taking advantage of them. I think they both did that.

“It still goes back to the O-line, tight ends and receivers blocking, being able to create some holes because there were some good lanes there for them. But then, every once in a while, those guys make a lot of people miss and break tackles. So it's fun to watch them play off each other.”

Irving and White a top NFL tandem?

----------------------------------

With the pair now seen as key operators for Josh Grizzard's offense, they are perhaps the ones opposing defenses have to stop.

Granted, given that both can play as a running back and receivers equally as well and just as devastating (Irving 50 receiving yards vs. Texans), stopping all of Mayfield's weapons is a tough thing to do.

But some were skeptical of how the pair could exist together, knowing that they aren't going to get all the touches; instead, it would be shared between them.

Well, if last season and the first two games of this year have taught us anything, it is that both Bucky and Rachaad are content with how things are rolling.

Are they a top tandem in football? There's a great case to be made.
