All the early injury news surrounding Tottenham and Brighton as they prepare to face off in the Premier League.
In the Premier League, Tottenham have won three of their four games so far, while this weekend’s opponents Brighton have picked up four points so far. Here we round up the early injury news surrounding both teams.
Adam Webster - Out
Webster is out for much of the season with a serious knee injury. Fabian Hurzeler said at the time: “Adam suffered a knee ligament injury during training last week, and he will undergo surgery in the coming weeks... It’s too early to put a timescale on his recovery period, but it’s fair to say he will miss a large part of the season.”
Solly March - Out
March will be out for much of the calendar year. Hurzeler said last week: “I think he's not that close that we can say he will be back in two or three weeks. He is working quite hard - doing step after step - but he's still not on the pitch. We see some good progress, so we are very convinced that we will see him back this year, but I can't give a schedule [for] when it will be.”
Mats Wieffer - Doubt
Wieffer was expected to return last time out, with Hurzeler saying: “It's just a small issue. We didn't want to take any risks. He has some days to recover, and then he will be back against Bournemouth.” He did not end up returning. Wieffer should be in contention here, but he remains a doubt for now.
Diego Amarilla - Doubt
Amarilla had what was described as a ‘small health issue’. He should be back here, but it’s unclear at this stage.
Jack Hinshelwood - Out
Hinshelwood is expected to be out. Hurzeler said after the last game: “I think it is [serious], but I'm not a doctor, so we have to wait for the scan.”
Maxim De Cuyper - Doubt
We don’t yet know the severity of De Cuyper’s injury issue after he suffered an injury last time out. Hurzeler said after the game: “I didn't see them yet, so I have to watch it back,' said Hurzeler. 'Hopefully, it's not the worst.”
Dominic Solanke - Out
Frank said last week: “Dominic won't be available, but he won't be long. Right now, the medical team is doing everything they can to get on top of it, and that's what we're focusing on. I get the feeling he's not too far away, but he's just falling away this week.” The striker is not expected to return here, with next week more realistic.
Dejan Kulusevski - Out
Kulusevskis is going to remain out for at least a few weeks yet, expected to return some time in the autumn. The forward said during the break: “The status is good. The rehab is going well. I will be on a football pitch in the very, very near future. If everything goes, as it should, as it has so far, I'm very confident that I will be on the pitch in two to three months.”
Yves Bissouma - Doubt
Frank said before the Bournemouth game: “He's out for the next game. I don't have a specific timeline for him, but I don't think it will be that long” The Midfielder could be back in contention but it is unclear, and he may not make the squad in any case depending on Frank’s plans.
Kota Takai - Out
Takai has been struggling with a foot injury. Frank said in late July: “Kota got a plantar fascia injury, unfortunately, we don’t know the scale of it - weeks!” Takai is expected to remain out.
Radu Dragusin - Out
Frank provided a fresh update on Dragusin last week, with the defender expected back in October. He said: “Dragusin is on the way back, and he's been running for a while. I think he should join the team in a week's time, 10 days' time. But of course, it is an ACL. I'm always a little bit more, not worried, but just aware that it takes time. It's not enough to have a six-week pre-season. You need to take a little bit more time, but it's positive and some surprise and come back quicker.”
Maddison ruptured his ACL during a pre-season clash with Newcastle United and will much of the season.
