Leeds United know full well that if the club are to fail in their attempt to survive in the Premier League this season, they're going to have to say goodbye to some players. It's always been the case and will be so again that with failure comes casualties, with a number of players no doubt moving on for pastures new.
There are some players who the club would no doubt want to keep hold and be hopeful of doing so, players signed when they were in the Championship last time such as Ao Tanaka. That looks like it could be a difficult ask, however.
Tanaka has revealed this past week that he was considering leaving the club had Leeds not won promotion to the Premier League last season. With the league title and elevation to the top flight came a commitment from the Japan international, who holds strong Premier League ambitions.
Failure to stay up would likely see Tanaka want to move on, and now two clubs who were circling him previously have been named with a view to keeping a close eye on what happens at Leeds this season. Bournemouth and Brentford have bene credited with a link to Tanaka, with the clubs having watched him closely last season ahead of a possible bid this summer had Leeds not been promoted.
According to TEAMtalk that interest remains and the clubs are again watching on to see how Leeds progress.
