Gianluigi Donnarumma suggests Napoli have a player even more dangerous than Man City legend Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has suggested that Napoli have a player who is even more dangerous than Kevin De Bruyne.

Manchester City will host Napoli in the Champions League on Thursday night, and they are set to go up against several players they will know pretty well.

Scott McTominay has been a revelation since swapping Manchester United for Napoli, and he has been joined by Rasmus Hojlund, who is on loan from the Old Trafford side.

In addition, Kevin De Bruyne is set for a reunion with the club where he made a name for himself as one of the best midfielders of his generation.

De Bruyne only left Man City in the summer, linking up with Napoli, and fate has brought the two teams together in battle as early as September.

Ahead of the Napoli game, new Etihad signing Gianluigi Donnarumma was asked by the Italian media about the reigning Serie A champions’ danger men.

Gianluigi Donnarumma suggests Scott McTominay is more dangerous than Kevin De Bruyne

Interestingly, Donnarumma did not mention De Bruyne as a danger man, instead singling McTominay and Hojlund out as Napoli’s most dangerous players.

“One of the most dangerous is definitely McTominay, and then there’s Hojlund, who I know very well and is very dangerous,” Donnarumma told Calcionapoli24.

The Italy goalkeeper then elaborated on what makes Napoli so dangerous.

“They do very well on the wings, have important vertical passes, and defend well,” continued Donnarumma.

“It will be difficult, we’ll have to be careful throughout the match.

“They have pace, intuition – I’ll say this in the dressing room, but the coach will certainly say it too as he prepares for the match.”

Erik ten Hag certainly made a mistake in letting McTominay leave Man United.

How many times Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund have faced Manchester City

McTominay knows Man City very well, having played them 15 times over the course of his career.

He has won six times against the Citizens and has also bagged a goal against them, though he has also been on the receiving end of six defeats.

Meanwhile, Hojlund’s record against Man City is not bad from a results perspective, having won twice against them, drawn once and lost once.

However, he is yet to find the back of the net against Pep Guardiola’s side.
