Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata lashed out against the rising anti-Tush Push chatter, calling all the focus on the controversial play’s effect on the 20-17 road win over the Chiefs as “disrespectful.”

“I understand the outrage. What I don’t understand is them using it as an excuse to why we won the game. I think it’s incredibly disrespectful to our defence and our special teams who balled out,” Mailata said on 94 WIP.

“My brothers on defence and special teams who balled out that game, who had our backs when we weren’t moving the ball or weren’t doing anything. When I see those things, they fly across my timeline, here and there …. that kind of irks me a little bit.

“That pisses me off because we give so much to this game and to kind of base off a short-yardage play, that is a football play, and say that we won the game off that, but not how our defence played and not how our special teams have played, putting us in those positions. I think it’s bull crap. … I just think it’s rubbish. Absolute rubbish, man. It makes my blood boil just thinking about it.”

The Tush Push is the most polarising play in the NFL and it tends to be discussed ad nauseam after it plays a large role in an Eagles win.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said earlier in the week that he believes the tush push is “on life support” and even when as far as to claim on ‘Get Up’ that Kansas City lost the game against Philadelphia in March when a vote to ban the move didn’t go through.

“This game was lost when the NFL owners refused to ban the tush push from happening. It wasn’t lost yesterday,” Schefter said.

Mailata wasn’t having any of it.

“I don’t give a f--- what Adam Schefter says, to be honest,” Mailata said.

“I ain’t the one calling the plays on my team. ... Pardon my language, pardon my French. I’m not calling the plays, and I don’t care what Adam Schefter says. Sorry about that.”

Then, Mailata issued a challenge to the other teams in the league.

“Why can’t they convert?” Mailata asked.

“You could do it. Let me do this. You guys can do it. This is my official plea to all the teams out there. You can run the tush push just like we can.”

The Eagles used the play seven times Sunday in their win in the Super Bowl rematch, and plenty of folks focused on one particular snap in which the interior members of the Eagles’ line jump early.

Kansas City fans on social media noted how the NFL allegedly used copyright tactics to pull the clip from social media.

Chiefs star defensive lineman Chris Jones, who had a spat with Jalen Hurts in the final moments, said that Kansas City believed the Eagles got a good whistle.

“We think he jumped multiple times,” he said.

Games like Sunday may lead to even more chatter about whether the play should be banned

NFL owners did not pass a resolution to prohibit that play, allowing the Eagles — and others, though not as successfully — to continue to use the tactic.
