Arsenal make approach for midfielder – Bourussia Dortmund tussle on horizon

Arsenal have Sevilla’s Lucien Agoumé on their transfer radar, according to a report from Spain.

The midfielder initially joined the La Liga club from Inter Milan on loan in January 2024 and his stay was made permanent later that year.

Last season, he played 37 games in all competitions mainly as a defensive midfielder, but his role has changed as Sevilla manager Matías Almeyda has used the 23-year-old in the middle of the pitch this season, where he managed a goal from four games.

Vamos Mi Sevilla FC report his performances have seen Arsenal take notice as they, along with Borussia Dortmund, are already following the Frenchman.

It’s claimed the Gunners and the Bundesliga club have been keeping a close watch on the player and both have collected ‘positive reports about the midfielder’.

In fact, the outlet report the two clubs made moves via intermediaries in the summer and his signing could materialise in the upcoming windows.

According to Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, the La Liga club paid an additional €4m to own 90% of Agoumé’s rights.

His contract expires in 2028, and the report states Sevilla are looking at him as one of the next ‘big sales’, and this should please Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Agoumé’s other suitors.
