The Nelson Semedo situation was certainly a source of frustration for many Wolves fans over the summer.
The former captain’s contract was expiring, and Wolves had wanted to keep him and offered a four-year contract.
This came as a surprise, because Nelson Semedo looked as if he was saying goodbye after Wolves’ final game of the 2024/25 season against Brentford.
It was then several weeks before Semedo finally communicated his decision to leave.
The player had filmed a goodbye video, which he eventually released on his own Instagram account.
It was then a question of which club Semedo was going to be joining, and barely any time passed at all before it was revealed it would be Fenerbahce – and Semedo has made a positive start.

One criticism of Semedo at Wolves was that he did not provide as many goal contributions as he perhaps should have.
Playing as a wing-back, Semedo often found himself in dangerous positions.

But he only ever scored three goals for the club in 182 appearances and made 11 assists.
Semedo had to wait a fair while before scoring his first goal for Wolves, with it coming in the final game of his first season at the club against Manchester United.
But Semedo has managed to find the net early doors for Fenerbahce, as he was on target in their 2-2 draw against Alanyaspor. He is already now just two behind his whole tally for Wolves.
This was Semedo’s first league goal since that one (and only) for Wolves against United in May 2021. His other two came in the FA Cup.
Semedo will be a big miss for Wolves
Semedo will be a miss for Wolves.
The Portugal international was at the very least a dependable player for multiple managers at Molineux and was generally always available for selection.
He also showcased his leadership qualities earlier this year, when he took over as captain.
Goals are rare for Semedo, which will make it surprising for some that he has scored for Fenerbahce this early.
But fans will hope that Jackson Tchatchoua, with his status as the fastest Premier League player, will be more of a goal threat than his predecessor.
