Potter needs to give Callum Marshall a real first-team chance

**Northern Ireland International Callum Marshall has showed once again he’s ready for the first-team, will Graham Potter finally give him a chance?**

West Ham United have had a woeful start to the season with fourteen goals conceded in five matches in all competitions and just five goals scored, the fans have turned on the board and Potter and there is no positivity at the club.

The board replacing Potter would give the fans some hope this season, but before that happens Potter needs to change something in hopes of turning this horrific form around.

For starters he needs to sort out our defence, especially set pieces. But another thing he can do to bring some hope and passion into the team is to play some of the youngsters.

No one is asking him to field them all from the start, but even starting a couple here and there when there is injuries, or using them off the bench would give the whole of the club a much needed boost.

The main one is Freddie Potts, how he hasn’t started a match yet this season despite playing in every single pre-season match and our midfield being an absolute state, but everyone already knows how wrong Potter is for that.

But it’s not only Freddie Potts that deserves a shot, there is a few others, but the main one is Callum Marshall. The 20-year-old forward was involved in pre-season after a successful loan at Huddersfield last season and looked really promising. He scored against Grasshopper and looked to have a good relationship with attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

The fact that Niclas Fullkrug wasn’t fully fit and Potter clearly doesn’t want to use Callum Wilson from the start, the fact Callum Marshall didn’t even get in the squad against Tottenham was ridiculous. His pace, directness and constant hard work could have made a real difference and is exactly what we’ve been missing in attack a lot of times this season.

Despite not getting first-team minutes, Marshall proved himself yet again with the U21’s as he scored two in the 5-1 win over MK Dons in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night. While it was for the U21’s, it was against a first-team, so again he’s proving he deserves a shot in the Premier League. Lets hope he’s on the bench at least against Palace on Saturday!
