How Adam Idah fared on his first Swansea start vs Ange Postecoglou, amid horror ending for…

It was a pretty contrasting Wednesday evening in Wales for two former Celtic men.

As the UEFA Champions League was taking centre stage, Ange Postecoglou’s Nottingham Forest travelled to Swansea City to take on the Championship side in a third-round League Cup encounter.

It also happened to be Adam Idah’s first start for the Swans following his Celtic exit during the 2025 summer transfer window – he made his debut off the bench over the weekend.

Postecoglou lost to Arsenal on his managerial debut for Forest on Saturday, but the evening in south Wales proved to be far worse for the Celtic hero.

How Adam Idah fared against Ange Postecoglou’s Nottingham Forest

Idah played around 79 minutes for his side, and at the time he went off the pitch, Swansea had just pulled a goal back after being 2-0 down.

It was a quiet evening for Idah, as he was handed a rating of 6.05 by WhoScored, and there were early signs of his Celtic struggles on show, such as not holding the ball up.

But it was a far worse evening for Postecoglou because, somehow, his Forest team, despite being the Premier League side, would end up losing the contest 3-2.

The man who replaced Idah, Zan Vipotnik, as well as defender Cameron Burgess, netted stoppage-time goals to make it a horror evening for Celtic’s Treble-winning hero.
