Leeds United star Ilia Gruev has told Leeds United fans that they should not be concerned with the side’s lack of goals at the beginning of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
The 1-0 defeat against Fulham showed the fine margins which could determine whether Leeds remain in the Premier League, as a Gabriel Gudmundsson own goal settled a tight encounter.
However, the main talking point after the game was Leeds’ lack of cutting edge, after Ally McCoist criticised Dominic Calvert-Lewin for missing his side’s best chance of the day, and Leeds made a piece of unwanted history by going four games without a goal from open play.
The pressure is on Daniel Farke to find a more potent attacking formula in the crucial game against Wolves, with Harry Gray making a case for selection with a brilliant hat-trick in the under-21s.
Now, Leeds’ Bulgarian international, Ilia Gruev, has explained why fans should trust the process, as Leeds look to find their rhythm in attack.

Ilia Gruev urges fans to trust Leeds United to come good
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds ahead of Leeds’ visit to Molineux to face bottom-of-the-table Wolves, Gruev explained why fans should keep the faith in Farke’s approach.
According to Gruev, although nobody expects Leeds to be prolific on their trip to Wolverhampton, they can get a result if they stick to their processes during the game. Gruev said: “I think it’s going to be in our favour because I think we will get better and better from week to week.
“Also, of course, you will have some weeks or some game days where maybe you don’t perform like you have to, like you want to, maybe lose a game, but the whole process, I think, is more important, and I think we are in a good way.

“We want to stay calm out of these games now. We didn’t concede in two games, unfortunately, now in the last game against Fulham, in the last minute, it was a tough one, but we want to keep our structure, to play our football.
“Nobody expects us to go to Wolverhampton and score a lot of goals. Of course, if it happens, great, and it can happen, but we want to stick to our principles, we want to play our football, and then it will come, the goals will come, I’m sure.”

Daniel Farke overseeing longest goal-scoring drought of Leeds reign
Leeds’ only goal of the season to date came from Lukas Nmecha, who nervelessly slotted home a penalty to win Leeds’ first game of the season.
Since then, Leeds have gone three full Premier League games without a goal in open play, in a goal-scoring drought which totals 277 minutes.
According to the stats maintained by LUFCData, this is the first time that Leeds have drawn a blank in three consecutive games under Farke’s reign.
The previous longest spell without a goal under Farke saw Leeds draw two consecutive blanks in April 2024, in a 0-0 draw with Sunderland, which was followed by a 1-0 defeat against Blackburn.
