Arsenal Transfer News: PSG Join Real Madrid In Race For £69m Star Arsenal Say Is "Not For Sale"

PSG are reportedly keen on an Arsenal star that Real Madrid have been eyeing up for some time now.

The Gunners began their Champions League campaign on Tuesday night with a win against La Liga side Athlteic Club. They will be hoping to replicate that form in the Premier League when they face Manchester City in their next game on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side had some stand-out players against Bilbao on Tuesday. Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard scored, and Cristhian Mosquera and Gabriel helped to keep a clean sheet against a tough side.

Mosquera was standing in for William Saliba, who has been out injured. He is set to return against Man City, but it is good for Arteta to know that he has a great stand in with Mosquera, who joined for just £13m in the summer.

PSG join Real Madrid in Saliba pursuit

It is no secret that Saliba is a man in demand. Real Madrid have been linked to the Arsenal star for some time now, with reports suggesting that they want to sign him if he doesn’t agree on a new deal with the Gunners.

Arsenal are understood to be in talks with Saliba over a new contract, but no news regarding an agreement has yet materialised. However, now, according to a report by Caught Offside, PSG are also circling, as they are keen on Saliba too.

A move back to Ligue 1 would seem less likely for the Frenchman, with Real Madrid likely being a much more tempting proposition. But seeing as PSG just won the Champions League, they may be able to persuade the defender. As things stand, the most likely outcome for Saliba is staying at Arsenal and signing a new deal though. The Gunners have said that he’s not for sale even though he has an estimated market value of around £69m.

The Gunners already have a Saliba replacement

As mentioned, Mosquera has been standing in for Saliba whilst he’s been injured, and the Columbian defender has done a brilliant job, looking good enough to be a starter for Arsenal in every game.

If Saliba were to leave, Mosquera would be the obvious replacement, as he’s younger and full of promise. Furthermore, Arsenal also signed Piero Hincapie in the summer transfer window, and he is also tipped to be a top talent at the back.

We are yet to see Hincapie, but at least for some piece of mind for Arteta, he does have replacements already in the building, should Saliba decide to make a shock move away from the Emirates.
