The latest transfer news regarding both Man Utd and Manchester City.
Man City grabbed the bragging rights in the Manchester derby last weekend, and they could soon pile more misery on Manchester United in the transfer market. Pep Guardiola’s side kick-started their league campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over United at the Etihad, a result that piled more pressure on head coach Ruben Amorim.
United have endured their worst start to a league season in 33 years, with huge scrutiny on Amorim after poor results and regressive performances. Amorim has not only been criticised for his stubborn tactical approach, but he has also been lambasted for the way in which he has overlooked Kobbie Mainoo.
The 20-year-old was an unused substitute in matches against Arsenal and Fulham, only featured against Burnley after injury to Mason Mount and only made an appearance from the bench in the derby defeat on Sunday afternoon. Mainoo is unhappy with his lack of playing time under the Portuguese head coach and asked to leave United on loan during the summer window, but saw his request rejected by the club.

Mainoo has no desire to leave the club permanently next year but could be forced to change his mind if he is not convinced of his long-term role at Old Trafford. The English midfielder would not be short of offers if he decided to leave Old Trafford, with a move across Manchester reportedly a possibility.
TEAMtalk claim City are 'considering a shock move' for Mainoo next year and even suggest Guardiola has given his approval to the proposed deal. The report names Chelsea and Newcastle United as two other interested parties, though the main focus is on a potential switch to sky blue.
It is claimed Guardiola 'views Mainoo as one of England’s brightest prospects' and states his 'ability to dictate play and adapt to high-pressing systems aligns perfectly with City’s philosophy.' The report also adds that while no official asking price has been confirmed, they believe Mainoo would be available for roughly £70 million next year.
United reiterate they have no plans to sell the youngster, though the fact he is an academy graduate would mean the entire £70m fee would be classified as pure profit from a financial perspective. A sale to City would be hugely embarrassing for United, but if the money was right, it would be difficult for them to turn it down.
