German media outlet [Sport BILD](https://sportbild.bild.de/) have released new details of Nick Woltemade’s transfer to Newcastle United following his summer switch from Stuttgart.
English media outlets were previously reporting that United were set to pay a base figure of £69m for the towering striker, but the figure released today is that of €85m (£73.5m). BILD say this fee will be paid in three instalments over three years, with the first fee being considerably higher than the rest.
The potential add-ons for the deal have also been outlined, both condition and price, although the clauses are not easy to achieve and will mean the big man goes on to be a very successful signing if any of them are activated.
The first of the three bonus clauses sees Stuttgart get €2m (£1.7m) if the 23-year-old wins the Premier League with Newcastle. They will collect another €2m (£1.7m) if Newcastle win the Champions League with Woltemade in the team.
If Newcastle reach the semi-finals at any stage, they will have to fork over €1m (£0.9m) to Stuttgart. There is a condition on this, as Woltemade has to play over 60% of the Magpies’ games in the competition.
Newcastle will have to pay a further €500k (£0.45m) if Woltemade becomes the Premier League top scorer. Again, if this is achieved, I’m sure Newcastle won’t mind shelling out a little extra on the 6ft 6″ German!
Stuttgart aren’t the only ones making a lot of money from this deal, as Woltemade is thought to be earning €8m (£6.95m) a year playing in black and white, suggesting he’s earning around £130,000-per-week.
Woltemade seems to think he made the right choice for his career. Speaking to the media after the 1-0 win over Wolves, the German striker talked about the reasons why he signed for United:
> _“The discussions with the coach were good from the start. I was immediately shown a clear plan and a path forward. The people are keen to work with me here. I’m very pleased about that.”_
>
> _“It all happened quite quickly in the end. Basically, he always told me: ‘If anything happens, you can call me anytime.’ We’ve talked about it now._
>
> _“It’s important to him that I play. As long as that’s the case, everything’s fine. I think he’s happy that I scored a goal. In that respect, I’m very happy.”_
Woltemade looks to build on his debut goal by getting off the mark in the Champions League tonight, where Newcastle United take on Barcelona in our opening game of the 2025/26 league phase.
