Ex-Blue Burgess strikes twice to dump Hutchinson's Forest out of Carabao Cup

Burgess left the Blues at the end of his contract in June, turning down a new offer from the club to join Championship rivals Swansea.

Hutchinson, on the other hand, made a £37.5m move to Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest - although many Town fans were frustrated by his refusal to play against Birmingham City and Bromley at the start of the campaign.

The Swans hosted Ange Postecoglou's side in the Carabao Cup last night, with both players starting the match in South Wales. Igor Jesus struck twice for Nottingham Forest in the first half - his second assisted by Hutchinson's cutback inside the box.

Swansea launched a comeback after the restart. Burgess, captaining his new team, jumped highest from Ji-Sung Eom's corner to get one back in the 68th minute, with Zan Vipotnik firing home in the second minute of stoppage time to equalise.

They weren't going to settle for penalties, however, with a late surge leading to a 97th minute winner. Forest cleared a corner as far as Ethan Galbraith, who hit the corner of the post from range, with Burgess rushing in to score his second, sending his side through to the fourth round of the competition.
