West Ham’s Fan Advisory Board are expected to meet with the Hammers’ hierarchy after the vote of no confidence.

David Sullivan and Co. were sent the letter of no confidence after multiple failures in the Premier League so far this season, and trust in the board is running low.

Having sold more than £70million of talent and significantly reduced their wage bill, the Hammers have yet to reinvest.

Furthermore, the sight of West Ham fans leaving the London Stadium in floods after conceding their third goal in the defeat to Tottenham have raised further questions.

West Ham’s London Stadium helped ‘get the culture right’ – Karren Brady

It isn’t just Sullivan who is facing criticism in East London.

In August, West Ham’s vice-chairman Karren Brady faced criticism for her excuses for such a slow transfer window.

Profit and Sustainability Rules were blamed by West Ham for the shortcomings in recruitment, with claims that the Hammers needed to sell before they bought.

In 2016, Brady defended the move from Upton Park to the London Stadium and said it would “change the brand values of the club… get the culture right.

“The stadium itself is a designated UEFA category four stadium… It can host a Champions League final, so it is absolutely suitable for football,” she said at the time.

West Ham moved to the London Stadium in 2016

The stadium was originally built for the Olympics in 2012

It has a capacity of 62,500 compared to Upton Park’s 35,000

The stadium move was tough for a lot of supporters who felt they were moving from a nostalgic and atmospheric Boleyn Ground into a modern bowl.

In 2020, David Gold received plenty of backlash when he went on talkSPORT and said the best thing he did in his ten years at the Hammers was “moving stadiums”.

In their reply to the statement from the fan advisory board, West Ham wrote: “As is the case at every football stadium in the country, we accept that regular winning performances are the best way to improve the atmosphere.”

It goes without saying that this is yet another misstep. West Ham fans are among the most vocal anywhere in the land, but there is only so much they can work with.

Could new West Ham owners move from the London Stadium?

The Hammers have only been at the London Stadium for nine years.

However, supporters have been demanding a change, with the ground described as too friendly and difficult to create an atmosphere.

The West Ham hierarchy could be forced to give in to pressure from fans and sell up, which could put a move away from the London Stadium back on the table down the line.

Sullivan doesn’t own the ground and pays around £3million in rent a year for the Irons to play there.

There was plans to buy the stadium, but new owners could elect to build a new one instead if and when that day ever comes to fruition.
