The latest Tottenham Hotspur injury news ahead of their key match against Brighton
Tottenham’s impressive start to the new season continued under Thomas Frank as they claimed three points and a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over Villarreal in Europe.
It marked the club’s fourth win in five matches under Frank and also saw the team keep a fourth clean sheet, marking a stark contrast to last season when an injury depleted team leaked goals throughout the season under Ange Postecoglu, who came under fire for his reluctance to modify his tactics in the Premier League.
The Lilywhites have had a much deeper pool of players to work with in comparison to last season - but they still face an anxious wait to welcome back a few key names to the squad ahead of a busy period of fixtures in the calendar. With that in mind, we’ve got the latest updates on each injury-hit player and their expected return dates as well.
Will Dominic Solanke be fit to play Brighton?
Tottenham Hotspur splashed out a club-record £65m to bring Dominic Solanke to north London last summer but are still yet to see the best of the former Bournemouth man in the Premier League. Solanke managed nine top-flight goals last term but was a massive part of the team’s Europa League success with five goals on the continent. He’s yet to find the net in two appearances this term and is yet to start a league game. He missed the last two fixtures due to an ankle injury and is still thought to be another week away from returning to action.
“Dominic won't be available, but he won't be long. Right now, the medical team is doing everything they can to get on top of it, and that's what we're focusing on. I get the feeling he's not too far away, but he's just falling away this week,” said Thomas Frank. Possible return date: Tottenham vs Doncaster Rovers (24 September)
Other Tottenham injury updates
Dejan Kulusevski is currently nursing a knee injury which is expected to rule him out until mid-November. The Swedish international hasn’t featured since the beginning of May in a 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace. Possible return date: Arsenal vs Tottenham (22 November)
Radu Dragusin is slightly ahead of Kulusevski in his rehab and is thought to be targeting a return for late October after sustaining a serious ACL injury. He has been with the team 18 months in total, featuring 16 times in the league last term. Possible return date: Tottenham vs Aston Villa (19 October)
Yves Bissouma is yet to feature for Tottenham this season and was dropped from the squad for the UEFA Super Cup loss to PSG due to disciplinary issues. He was linked with a move away throughout the summer, but for the time being remains in Frank’s group, despite being in the last few months of his contract. The Mali international is out with a minor injury at present, ruling him out until late September. Potential return date: Possible return date: Tottenham vs Doncaster Rovers (24 September)
James Maddison is not expected to feature much this season after sustaining a damaging ACL injury over the summer. The England international is targeting a return before the 2026 World Cup but faces a real uphill battle to achieve that goal. Possible return date: June 2026
