Watch: Anthony Elanga surprises bunch of young Newcastle United fans and picks up new goal…

· 18 September 2025, 11:00

Anthony Elanga joined Newcastle United from Nottingham Forest this summer in a £55 million deal.

It was a long pursuit with the Magpies trying to sign the Sweden star last-minute on deadline day last summer after finally throwing in the towel while trying to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

The rapid winger was the first new player through the door this summer as Eddie Howe finally got his man.

It hasn't been the most electric start for the winger, having already lost his place in the starting lineup to Jacob Murphy, but as Eddie Howe said in his pre-Barcelona presser on Wednesday, there's a lot for Elanga to learn, and he needs time to adjust.

Anthony Elanga recently surprised a group of young Newcastle supporters with a Q&A opportunity for Sky Sports, with some of the young hopeful future Newcastle players asking better questions than some of the region's journalists.

While one of the kids asked Elanga if he'd see himself leaving Newcastle (let him settle first, kid), Elanga gave a brilliant answer.

"I love Newcastle. This is my city."

To round off the Q&A, the youngsters were given the opportunity to give Elanga a new celebration to use the next time he scores, with one youngster leaving it late but delivering the goods right at the end.

The celebration involves pointing at the badge before donning an imaginary crown. The twinkle in Elanga's eye when he saw it was immense, with the winger declaring, "I can see myself doing that".

So now we have to watch out for the crown when Elanga bags his next goal for the Magpies.
