Aston Villa have been boosted by the return of Boubacar Kamara from injury.

The French midfielder was named in the matchday squad to face Brentford on Tuesday and came off the bench in the second half.

He could now start against Sunderland this weekend - a hugely important fixture for Villa following their miserable start to the season.

Villa are still without a win in the league this season and are yet to score, although Harvey Elliott did find the net in the Carabao Cup against Brentford.

Unai Emery’s side then conceded an equaliser just before the hour mark and were ultimately knocked out of the competition on penalties.

Here’s the latest injury news ahead of the Sunderland match...

Victor Lindelöf

The defender missed the Brentford clash due to a minor injury.

Emery confirmed in his post-match press conference that the Swedish international is expected to be sidelined for a few more days.

He could return to action next week - if not this weekend.

Possible return date: Bologna (H) – September 25

Amadou Onana

Onana has been out with a hamstring injury for the past three weeks.

Emery is expected to provide an update on the Belgian's recovery in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

The Villa boss previously stated he hopes Onana will be back in the team "soon."

Possible return date: Bologna (H) – September 25

Youri Tielemans

Tielemans was forced off at half-time against Everton last weekend due to a calf issue.

Scans revealed he would be sidelined for up to two weeks, as Emery confirmed following the shootout defeat to Brentford.

Possible return date: Fulham (H) – September 28

Andres Garcia

Garcia is yet to feature this season due to injury, and no exact return date has been confirmed.

Reports in late August suggested the 22-year-old would be out for at least a month.

Possible return date: Feyenoord (A) – October 2

Ross Barkley

Prior to the Everton fixture, Emery stated that Barkley was dealing with a personal matter.

It remains unclear when the midfielder will be available for selection.
