Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Mark Flekken has joked he thought he was leaving Danish managers behind this summer but has instead ended up with Casper Hjulmand at the German club.

The goalkeeper joined Leverkusen in an €11m deal from Brentford after two years working under Thomas Frank with the Bees.
He’s already explained that part of the attraction of the move was the prospect of working with Eric ten Hag, who had been appointed earlier this summer. He was key to the move after speaking to the goalkeeper.
However, their relationship proved to be a short lived one after the Dutchman was sacked just two games into the season amid reports of a falling out with his new players.
He was quickly replaced by Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand, meaning Flekken finds himself working under a Dane once again after leaving Thomas Frank behind this summer.
That’s something he was asked about during the press conference and joked he thought he’d left Danish coaches behind him at Brentford.
“I thought I’d finally gotten rid of one Danish coach, and now the next one is here,” he said.
“I had a very good experience with Thomas Frank at Brentford; working with him was really very pleasant.
“After the club signed Kasper, I heard that the two are very close, you can tell by some of the principles he wants to convey to us from the pitch.
“Those are the things I feel very comfortable with. That also makes the start a little easier for the new coach. I have a very good impression of Danish people.”
