Leeds injury crisis worsens – Daniel Farke forced into shock Wolves lineup

Daniel Farke and his Leeds United players are under pressure to produce a performance ahead of their trip to Wolves on Saturday. The manager has a few decisions to make on his starting eleven, with a big call being forced on him due to an injury to a key player.

Four points from four games is not the worst start to a Premier League season for a side tipped to be in the relegation dogfight. However, Leeds are under severe scrutiny because of the lack of goals and creativity in their team.

The Whites have not scored from open play this season, and their last league goal was from the penalty spot against Everton in their opening game of the season, nearly a month back.

Farke hopes to see a more attacking performance from his team at Wolves, but the Leeds manager has a few selection headaches to solve, one of which is due to an injury to a key player.

Daniel Farke faces a big call on his Leeds team against Wolves

Daniel Farke revealed that he didn’t start Dan James at Fulham because he was not at 100 percent. However, he picked up a muscle injury after coming on in the second half.

With the Welshman almost certain to be out for the Wolves game, the Leeds manager is facing a tough call on who to start on the right flank of his attack.

Brenden Aaronson started against Fulham, but his attacking performance was poor, and he struggled to create any chances or be an attacking threat at Craven Cottage.

Wilfried Gnonto has the most support from Leeds supporters to start against Wolves because of the bigger attacking threat he possesses compared to Aaronson.

The Italian has also registered better defensive numbers than the American and is considered the better option against a Wolves side low on confidence.

What about Jack Harrison?

Jack Harrison returned to Leeds in the summer following his two-year loan spell at Everton and was largely expected to move on from Elland Road.

However, he stayed put at Elland Road and worked behind the scenes to win over the manager and his teammates, and was used regularly during pre-season.

The winger has only made substitute appearances in the Premier League this season, but could be considered as a starting eleven option with James out injured.

With Noah Okafor expected to start in his favoured left-wing position, Farke could pull out a surprise and field Harrison over Gnonto or Aaronson on the right.

It would be a left-field choice, but unpredictability is what Leeds now need to be a more of an attacking threat at Molineux on Saturday.
