Ex-Liverpool and Chelsea footballer to appear at Norfolk pub

A former Chelsea and Liverpool footballer is set to appear at a Norfolk pub.

David Speedie, who also played 10 times for Scotland, will be attending the Railway Tavern in Dereham on Friday, September 19 at 2pm.

The retired striker won Chelsea’s player of the season award in 1985, and will be launching a Tavern Blues Supporters Club as part of the visit. 

Fans attending the event will be also able to pick up a signed copy of his new book, The David Speedie Story.

Speedie played 162 times for the Blues, scoring 47 goals.

He also had a short, 12-appearance stint for Liverpool in 1991.

With a professional career spanning nearly 20 years, Speedie also appeared for clubs such as Coventry, Blackburn Rovers, Southampton and Leicester.
