Bishop Auckland man summoned to court after incident at Sunderland v Leeds match

A Bishop Auckland man is set to appear in court later this year accused of racially aggravated harassment at a football match.

Steven Patterson of Stranton Street has been summoned to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on October 17.

It relates to an incident on February 17 at a Leeds United v Sunderland game. The 66-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "A man has been summoned to appear at court following a racially-aggravated public order incident at the Leeds United v Sunderland match on Monday, February 17.

"Steven Patterson, 66, of Stranton Street, Bishop Auckland, was arrested on suspicion of causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress and has now been summoned by postal requisition to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on October 17."
