Dominic Solanke has been spotted in training as he continues tor recover from an ankle injury for Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a huge injury boost on Thursday with striker Dominic Solanke spotted in training as he works his way back to fitness following an ankle injury.

The former AFC Bournemouth talisman, who joined the north London club on a £65 million move last summer, has managed just 49 minutes of action across all competitions this season. Solanke has not featured in a matchday squad since the 2-0 win over Manchester City last month.

Thomas Frank’s team have nonetheless enjoyed a strong start to the campaign with three league wins and a triumph over Villarreal in their first Champions League clash this week. The former Brentford manager has strikers Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani fit but will be excited to have Solanke firing again.

Tottenham Hotspur handed injury boost

It had been hoped that Solanke would be fit enough to face West Ham last weekend, but that was not the case. Speaking ahead of the trip to the London Stadium, Frank said: “Everyone returned from international duty well. Always positive, very happy about that. Dom will not be available still, I don't expect it to be too long but he will not be available for this game. “I think right now we are doing everything we can – the medical team - to get on top of it and that’s what we’re focusing on. I get a feeling he is not too far away, but he’s just fallen short for this week."

Sky Sports were at the Spurs training ground on Thursday and spotted Solanke back in training, taking part in a solo session. “He’s right on the other side doing some individual work,” the report claimed.

“That tells me it is probably unlikely he will feature against Brighton, but could he feature against Doncaster in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium? Spurs have started ever so well, Richarlison started well and Randal Kolo Muani made his debut on Tuesday against Villarreal, but it’s big news and good news for Spurs fans and Thomas Frank.”

Dominic Solanke back in Spurs training

Solanke managed 45 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur during his first season, scoring 16 goals and picking up eight assists. Spurs travel to the AMEX Stadium to take on Brighton on Saturday for a 3 pm kick-off.

The striker could miss out on the action on the south coast but looks likely to be in contention for the next Premier League clash, when Wolves visit north London later this month. There’s also the chance for minutes at home against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

It would be a boost to have Solanke back against Brighton with the forward having grabbed a goal and assist in the two fixtures against the opponents last season.
